In an interesting change of rhetoric, the Interpol Secretary General Ronald Noble stated that the only way to effectively protect ‘soft targets’ from terrorist attacks is to allow citizens to arm and protect themselves. He says, “What I’m saying is it makes police around the world question their views on gun control. It makes citizens question their views on gun control. You have to ask yourself, ‘Is an armed citizenry more necessary now than it was in the past with an evolving threat of terrorism?’ This is something that has to be discussed.”
These statements come as a stark contrast to many government’s (including portions of the US government) views on an armed citizenry. Hopefully, the governments will take heed and give their citizens the rights to defend themselves effectively!
